Alex Fragakis is a student of the Athens-Psychico College in Greece and enrolled in the IB Program following his decision to study abroad. In his 1styear of Lyceum, he graduated with a grade distinction and has been an appointed member of the A Association of his school since then. He has volunteered for various social services, including Perisevma Kardias, which distributes daily packaged food to NGOs protecting people in need; Koinoniko Pandopolio, which gathers food for poor people; and the Prolipsis Institution, where he helped schools with students of low financial levels by ensuring that packages of high quality foods would be available to the children daily. As a member of the A Association Club—and as an award-winning athlete himself—he also volunteered to help at the 36thAthens Marathon, the Basketball Special Olympics, and the Home Project, which took place at his school’s facilities. His interest in economics and business management motivated him to work during the last two summers at two companies, Principal Global Events Ltd in London and Vista Events Ltd in Athens, in order to gain understanding and experience in the different departments of these two conference and event organizers.
